The Role
Southern Ports is recruiting a Safety and Security Manager to join their team in Esperance. The Safety and Security Manager will be responsible for managing the health, safety and security support function for Southern Ports – Esperance, including developing and managing the implementation of health, safety and security protocols and ensuring regulatory and legislative requirements are met.
Key Duties
- Provide strategic and pragmatic OHS advice to the business and lead the development of a strong and inclusive OHS culture in alignment with Southern Ports values. Lead, develop and coach OHS team members
- Develop operation specific OHS systems, implement procedures and standards to meet Southern Ports OHS Management Plan.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and corporate OHS policy and standards.
- Collaborate with Contractors and Port Users to ensure site OHS requirements are met.
- Maintenance and ensure compliance with the Port Security Plan.
- Manage emergency response capability including reviewing/updating the Port Emergency Response Plan.
- Bachelor of OHS or Diploma of OH&S or equivalent
- 5 years’ proven experience in a similar role in an industrial or mining environment
- Previous experience with security and emergency management systems
- Strong knowledge of safety review processes and management of hazards
- Cert IV Training and Assessment
- Strong people management experience, ability to manage teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to Esperance and provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
