THE OPPORTUNITY
Based in Young, working at Hilltop Meats and Reporting to the Group Manager – People and Safety, the Safety and Training Coordinator will:
- Ensuring that training programs are implemented and maintained.
- Working with production/management to Identify personnel suitable for upskill opportunities.
- Monitoring and mentoring trainers and supervisors in training and WHS best practice and guide them to effective action.
- Planning and coordinating the organisational training plans in consultation with other key personnel.
- Conduct on site auditing/inspections/risk activities across the Hilltop Meats site.
- Plan, implement and monitor reporting activities for training and WHS to the Senior Leadership Team to ensure appropriate information is available to make business decisions.
- Review WHS and training materials to ensure currency, accuracy, and compliance with legislative and operational requirements.
- Assist with annual WHS Reviews, internal and external audits and follow up actions/outcomes.
- Review of WHS documentation from external parties where required to support operational needs and ensure compliance.
- Undertake specific projects as defined by the Group Manager – People and Safety.
- Participate in consultative activities as they relate to the above responsibilities.
- Coordinate, and participate in Risk Management activities including Incident Investigation, risk assessments and operational advice.
- Ensure the accurate and appropriate record keeping and management for both systems.
- Assist in the development of Work Instructions and Procedures to ensure that all factors are considered and included.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will demonstrate the best combination of the following characteristics:
- Proven experience in the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of systems of work including WHS.
- Demonstrated experience in Training and Assessment in a labour workforce.
- Experience with contractor management.
- Working knowledge of Safety and Training requirements and legislation.
- They need a hands-on approach – A willingness to enter and be present in production areas.
- High-level commitment to Quality and Safety
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish strong links with key stakeholders as well as the ability to negotiate effectively and work through issues constructively.
QUALIFICATIONS
Critical
- WHS Certificate IV (minimum)
- Experience in the development and implementation of WHS documentation
- Experience in the development and delivery of training and assessment materials
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a WHS focussed role
- Demonstrated experience conducting Risk Management activities including risk assessments
- Working knowledge of WHS legislation.
Desirable
- Trainer & Assessor Certificate IV
- Quality Auditing qualification (OHS Management Systems preferred)
- Experience in the food or meat processing/manufacturing industry
- Conducting ICAM investigations or similar
- OHS Construction Induction
- Substantial experience using Microsoft Office products and relevant industry software and programs.
