Job description

Immediate start for an experienced Planner Scheduler with Defence experience to support the rapid acquisition of Defence projects.

Planner Scheduler:

Project Services International is a growing professional services and project management company helping deliver successful projects for our customers. We have a number of immediate opportunities for our people to support Defence project teams in Canberra (and upcoming opportunities in Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide). 

The project environment is busy and involves the acquisition of weapon systems for Australian Defence Force platforms. This is a key role that supports Australia’s sovereign capability. 

This is a permanent role which is based in Canberra with flexible Working From Home and Office options. 

Job Description:

You will be part of a project team that provides a range of specialist services including engineering, logistics and project management to assist Defence in the planning, acquisition, sustainment and disposal of weapon systems. To achieve this, you will need to perform the following tasks: 

  • Support project deliverables, monitor progress, and risks.
  • Identify and assess schedule and interface clashes.
  • Engage with project teams, project managers and project directors to ensure schedule updates are timely and accurate.
  • Identify and communicate key issues arising from schedule updates.
  • Help develop master schedules.
  • Maintain baseline schedules.
  • Clarify requirements and advise on remediation actions.
  • Cost model support as requested.
  • Help identify and manage project risks.
  • Produce, review, and edit reports and project artefacts. 
  • Deliver quality outcomes within he required timeframes.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders and build meaningful and lasting professional relationships.
  • Provide timely, considered and appropriate advice when and where appropriate to support project outcomes.

What you bring:

  • Relevant qualifications project scheduling and planning
  • Experience with Open Plan Professional
  • Experience within a government or Defence environment
  • An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience in building trusted and valued relationships with project team members
  • Process driven and attention to detail are necessary 
  • Effective problem solving and time management abilities
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Minimum requirements:

  • Must have experience in the Australian Defence Industry or Australian Defence Force
  • A current or expired security clearance is essential (minimum NV1)
