What you'll be doing
The CICADA Centre NSW offers Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcohol. It has a lifespan approach in a paediatric tertiary hospital with three clinical streams: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service, Family Service and Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Service. Research, teaching and
education are essential parts of the CICADA service.
The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service provides assessment for children and adolescents with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure to consider a diagnosis of FASD. This includes multidisciplinary assessment, provision of a diagnostic report and recommendations for ongoing support and intervention.
The Clinical Neuropsychologist will:

  • Work as a member of the multidisciplinary team to provide neuropsychological assessments using relevant knowledge,principles and methodology, including a range of psychometric test modalities.
  • Participate in regular clinical meetings including intake, triage, clinical service provision and case review
meetings. * Support educational needs of the child or adolescent including liaison with school teachers.
  • Engage in case coordination with relevant agencies (e.g. Department of Family and Community Services)
  • Assist in maintaining and developing client tracking and clinical service pathways.
  • Contribute to education activities conducted by the Service, both internal and external to the Hospital.
  • Contribute to clinical audits and research projects of the FASD Service
  • Engage in clinical quality improvement processes undertaken by the Service.
  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, and clinical endorsement with the PBA or eligibility to progress to "Clinical Neuropsychology/Neuropsychology Registrar" status with PBA.
  • Minimum 2 years full time equivalent accredited post-graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Neuropsychology/Neuropsychology.
  • Previous experience involving psychometric and clinical neuropsychological assessment and management of children and adolescents.
  • Previous employment working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Previous employment involving liaison with schools and community agencies.
  • Demonstrated clinical research capacity and commitment to education and training.
