Job Description About the Role Brisbane Girls Grammar School invites applications for the position of School Nurse. This is a full-time (term time) position for twelve months covering Parental Leave.
Our team of School Nurses work collaboratively within our Student Care team to provide high-quality healthcare services to students presenting in the School's Health Centre. We encourage applications for those who have a passion for promoting excellence in nursing practices and the delivery of adolescent healthcare. The key responsibilities of our School Nurses include the following: adhering to professional nursing practice standards and legislation relevant to child and adolescent healthcare in a secondary school setting attending to student injuries on campus and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed collaborating with parents, caregivers and medical practitioners to prepare and implement individual health management plans for students with identified health conditions/needs, such as diabetes, asthma, anaphylaxis and other chronic health conditions preparing medical summaries and first aid supplies for all School events, trips, excursions, and camps.
Desired Skills and Experience You will also have: A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Registered Nurse (experience in a School or Pediatric environment is desirable) Ability to hold and maintain registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Current Senior First Aid Certificate/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Defibrillation Certificate Knowledge of relevant legislation and an understanding of school nursing practices and adolescent healthcare Excellent organisational experience, professionalism, and time management skills Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
