Camps & Relief Nurse - Working at All CampusesThe Role:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our school in the position of a Camps & Relief Nurse.
This is a Full Time (5 days per week) - Term Time position.
- This role will require the nurse to attend School Camps that are in duration of between 3-5 days, across the 3 campuses. This will include interstate and long distance travel in some instances e.g. travel to Canberra, Cairns etc.
- When not attending camps this position will be a relief position to cover our school nurses that are sick/on leave over the three campuses, Reedy Creek, Pimpama and Logan Village.
To be considered, applicants must possess the following attributes:
- Managing, supervision and maintenance of all medical supplies and equipment for camps and on campus.
- Providing first-aid using clinical nursing skills, and competently carrying out triage management of medical emergencies and injuries occurring on School Camps and within the Campus.
- Liaising with all internal and external stakeholders including parents to keep them updated with health emergencies and other health matters arising on camps and on campus.
- Acting as a liaison with medical practitioners, hospitals and medical authorities as required.
- Maintaining daily Campus health requirements, attendances and comprehensive health records of all Campus students.
- Supervising and documenting approved medication within the School’s medication guidelines, with special attention to the needs of students with individual health needs (e.g. Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes or any other chronic medical condition).
- Efficiently recording and maintaining the databases.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills .
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required .
- Previous Paediatric and/or Emergency Department Hospital nursing experience.
- Knowledge and competency using TASS and CompliSpace or similar injury reporting and recording system.
- A Division 1 Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency).
Experience in working in a school environment would be beneficial. However, it is also a perfect opportunity for a Nurse looking for a change from a hospital environment to a school environment where they can use their skills to support the health and wellbeing of young people.
