Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) is an integrated system of four processing hubs and five mines, connected by more than 1,000 kilometres of rail infrastructure and port facilities in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia.

About the Role

As a Principal Agreement Scheduling WAIO, your focus is to support the effective negotiation, development, review and implementation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUA) across WAIO operations and interests.

Preferably located in Perth, this role will work collaboratively with members of the WA based Indigenous Engagement team and agreement negotiation and review teams, steering committees, and other relevant stakeholders within the business to support the successful execution and development of Native title and project agreements with Traditional Owner Groups.

This role will be responsible for providing high level, project management support and oversight of agreement negotiation and review activities, including:
 

  • Manage and oversee high level schedules, risks and associated BOS tools to ensure compliance to plan and reporting requirements to WAIO and BHP leadership.
  • Plan and maintain the project schedules and performance boards for all ILUA reviews and negotiations, for reporting through to the Indigenous Engagement dashboard, steering committees and leadership.
  • Oversee relevant ethics and compliance approvals and requirements.
  • Document control for ILUA related documentation.
  • Execute relevant payments in line with approved processes (including CRes and 1SAP);
  • Logistical support for negotiation and review meetings, and other engagements as required, including meeting planning, travel, logistics, presentations, minute taking and actions registers.
  • Support the Risk Management process and reporting activities across the agreement making strategy for WAIO.
  • Research and data analysis where required.
  • Develop high level communications both internally and externally.
  • Issues management support when required.
  • Support in the development of options and research papers based on specific requirements of the agreement making process for executives.

This role will be working closely with a team of passionate professionals where you will get a chance to utilise your project management and planning skills and enhance your learning about Indigenous Agreements and First Nations perspectives. Agreement making has a high level of transparency and commitment across BHP and is a key focus area for the WAIO Asset.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business, or Commercial background. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience with BHP systems and processes, including SAP, PAAV and Borealis are desirable.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience or desire to work in Indigenous Engagement and/or Native Title context.
  • Non mandatory, Project Management and scheduling experience will be advantageous.

Location and Roster


You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. 

You will be working on Monday-Friday roster. Flexible work is also offered. This role also requires some site travel to Pilbara.
