Scientific Consultant - simulation and optimisation

Hypercube Scientific is a boutique consultancy offering simulation, optimisation and advanced analysis services. We focus on the mining, energy, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors and build long term business relationships based on our excellence, integrity, energy and flexibility. Our offices are in Gordon, with a distributed team working across Sydney and Perth. Due to high demand for our services, we have an opening for an ambitious scientist to add their keen analytical skills to our team. We expect to hire one at a principal level (2-4 years consulting and some team leadership).  The role is to be based in Sydney, with a mix of working from home and our offices in Gordon. You will be involved in cutting edge simulations of complicated business operations to help our major clients. You will also have the chance to work on scheduling and optimisation problems. As we increasingly provide bespoke, technical applications to our clients we particularly welcome those with additional background or interest in software development.

• Postgraduate qualifications in one of the hard sciences (eg physics, maths, biology or chemistry). 
• Advanced statistical and analytical abilities.
• 2+ years consulting in a technical role in industry. 
• Fluency in Python, with ability and willingness to learn further tools and packages. 
• Experience with discrete event simulation packages preferred (e.g. JaamSim Pro, Anylogic, Arena or ExtendSim).
• Additional experience in mathematical optimisation and scheduling looked upon highly.
• Experience in one of our key sectors preferred, but not essential.
