CETEC is seeking a motivated Scientific Consultant, to help drive our continued growth and delivery excellence. 

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Scientific Consultant to join our Perth Team to aid with project management and on-site deliverables. 

About this Role

This opportunity exists for a graduate or postgraduate scientist, hygienist or engineer majoring in environmental science or engineering, occupational hygiene, microbiology, chemistry or related field. The role will require liaising with clients and stakeholders, field work, sampling and testing, report writing and preparation of quotes. Applicants understanding the delivery of consulting services in environmental quality, environmental management, hazardous materials (asbestos and chemical audits) and occupational hygiene would be highly regarded.

As a Scientific Consultant, you will help deliver a wide variety of projects which will draw on your skill to assess chemical and occupational risks and require liaising with clients, sampling and testing, report writing and preparation of quotes. 

Specialized training on the topics of environmental health assessment techniques and the built environment will be provided.

The position may require travel within WA, interstate or internationally.

The candidate we are looking for may have many of the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Post Graduate Degree in science/engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge and principles to real-world problems.
  • Highly motivated, adaptable and positive worth ethic.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and critical and creative thinking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, both in teams and individually, and display well developed time management skills in delivery of field work and reporting. 
  • Attention to detail and understanding of the context of their observations and integration with the client requirements 
  • Results-orientated, with a high drive to meet their objectives and standards of excellence.
  • Applicants who hold membership or have basic knowledge of the AIOH, NABERS, GreenStar, WELL and/or LAA and other professional membership will be highly regarded.
  • Valid Australian driver’s license preferred.
  • Valid Work Permit to work in Australia.
  • Full COVID 19 Vaccination Required 
  • Physically and Autonomously and as a team able to deliver CETEC’s services in both metropolitan and remote locations.

  • Microbiology testing and consulting services, including Legionella risk management and water quality in healthcare and other high-risk facilities
  • Laboratory measurement of emissions from building materials and other materials testing.
  • Materials Science; polymers, corrosion, toxicity, product development.
  • Expert Witness.
