Job description

The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia - Quality Assurance Programs (RCPAQAP) seeks to lead the industry in the provision of External Quality Assurance Programs to pathology laboratories in Australia and worldwide.

We are offering an opportunity for a suitably qualified Scientist to work with colleagues in our Blood Disciplines Group (which covers Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Transfusion, Immunology and Serology). 

The position is a full-time position comprising 37.5 hours per week.

Position Objectives include:

Planning, preparing and dispatch of proficiency testing materials, survey report review, and customer technical support.

The ideal candidate for this role will have recent Immunology in a Clinical Pathology Laboratory.

Location

The position is located in St Leonards, Sydney and the office is within walking distance of the train station and the Pacific Highway.

Essential

  1. Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate medical science degree or diploma, with recent work experience in a clinical laboratory of more than 2 years duration.
  2. Willingness to handle survey material according to company standard operating procedures and WHS guidelines.
  3. Proven interest in development/improvement of diagnostic laboratory testing and procedures.
  4. Proven record of attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
  5. Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Intermediate or advanced experience in Microsoft office software, particularly MS Word, and MS Excel.
  7. Proven ability to work both as a team member and independently on projects. 
  8. High level technical and report writing skills.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practice of EEO, Ethical Conduct, diversity and WHS.

Desirable

  1. Recent Clinical Immunology experience
  2. Demonstrated experience in laboratory quality systems, NATA accreditation (ISO15189, ISO 17043 and/or ISO 9001).
  3. Experience in statistical analysis.
  4. Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems.
  5. Willingness to engage in public speaking opportunities (e.g. professional conferences).
  6. Demonstrated planning aand project management capabilities.
  7. Current membership of a related professional organisation.
