About the roleWe are seeking applications for a permanent part-time scientist for the Sandringham Laboratory of Alfred Pathology Service (APS). Sandringham hospital is part of Alfred Health, The Alfred is a major tertiary referral teaching hospital and APS has two laboratories, the main lab is located on the Alfred campus with the second located at Sandringham. This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist looking for part-time hours in a busy community hospital environment. The laboratory is staffed by a small multidisciplinary team, providing biochemistry, haematology and blood bank services. Participation in the shared shift roster, including week-ends is essential. An ability to work alone is essential.The Sandringham laboratory may operate everyday 8am-8pm. Outside of these hours the pathology work is transferred to The Alfred.As part of APS you should be prepared to work a variety of shifts including morning, afternoon, night, weekends and Public Holidays and on-call if the laboratory offers these shifts in the future.APS uses state of the art equipment and you will be trained and supported by a committed organisation.
Skills & ExperienceEssential- BSc in Medical Lab Science (or equivalent) with training in blood transfusion and haematology.
Desirable- Training in Biochemistry,
- 2 years laboratory experience.
- Haematology Morphology experience.
