Your New Role 

We are looking for a dedicated, energetic and experienced Sea Operations Operator to join our team on a full time basis located in our Perth office. 

Bring your flexible, Can-Do attitude to work every day and enjoy being part of an amazing team. As well as having experience in a similar role, some responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Process documents efficiently and promptly ensure they are correct and have been entered into the operations system.
  • Liaise with Customs Agents, clients, various transport bodies, and Australian Customs as and when required.
  • Serve couriers/customs agents at counter.
  • Take appropriate corrective action to prevent recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Responsible for processing import and export documentation - sea.
  • Responsible for booking cargo with shipping lines and consolidators.
  • Review Export SLI’s received.
  • To inspect all dangerous goods documentation and cargo, where applicable.
  • Record internal and external complaints on QIR’s.
  • Take responsibility for documenting Document Change Requests.
  • Take responsibility for inspecting all freight received or dispatched to the consignee or shipper.
  • Take responsibility for confiding all sourcing to Approved Suppliers, for reviewing all purchase orders that may be documented, and for liaising with Quality when new suppliers are considered.
  • Take responsibility for completing a Skills Inventory and for ensuring all training received is recorded.
  • To take on other duties as may be specified by your Manager.
  • Deal with clients and staff in a friendly and professional manner. 
  • To ensure a smooth and efficient running of the ocean import department.
  • Handle any claims regarding damage or pillage by way of notification to Quality, Customer Service, Notice of Intent to Claim, and transfer of data to Sea Operations Manager.
  • Prepare arrival notices.
  • Pay all charges and check ultimate consignees.
  • Liaise with overseas offices and agents regarding paperwork and charges, specifically freight charges and profit share.
  • To liaise with Shipping Lines regarding rates (import and export).
  • To have documentation and charges paid at Shipping Lines on time to avoid storage delays.
  • Input all shipments, costs and charges in operations systems, and check all original documents.
  • To liaise with clients and Customs Agents for the efficient distribution of documentation and charges.
  • To arrange ultimate consignee with Shipping Lines or Customs prior to arrival of vessel.

What You Need

We will help you be successful in this role. To start you will need:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in similar role 
  • Certificates of Origin
  • Health certificates and RFPs
  • Perishables cargo
  • CW1 experience would be beneficial
  • Analytical and problem solving approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Exceptional time management skills
