AddressThe Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the Australian Government’s principal revenue collection agency. It administers legislation governing tax, superannuation and business registries.
As a Second Commissioner of Taxation and a key member in the ATO Executive leadership team, you will provide strategic direction to one of Australia’s largest government agencies, comprising over 20,000 permanent staff at 23 locations across Australia.
As well as your role in providing executive leadership across the ATO, you will lead the Service Delivery Group within the organisation, ensuring your staff are focused on delivering solutions that support the ATO’s operations and the Australian community’s engagement with the taxation system.
In this role, you are responsible for the Service Delivery Group which is responsible for a broad range of key frontline services for all segments of the community. These include the ATO call centres; processing of payments, activity statements, income tax returns, superannuation lodgements and other forms; collecting tax debts, and administering the registry functions including the Australian Business Register.
Our ideal candidate has:
• Previous senior executive experience in public administration, accounting, tax, superannuation, program delivery, Service Delivery, or other related field.
• Working knowledge of Australia’s tax and superannuation systems, and the role of the ATO.
• The ability to lead in a public-sector organisation of significant scale and complexity, and experience in managing large-scale transformation to deliver for the organisation and a diverse client base.
The successful candidate will need a keen focus on stakeholders and a strong record of implementation in a context where outcomes are subject to considerable public scrutiny and have to meet community expectations around fairness, probity and transparency.
