Sector Sustainability Manager

Ventia provides strategic operations and maintenance, asset management and renewals services to Roads and Transport sector clients including local government councils and authorities in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia, as well as the NZ Transport Agency, Auckland Transport and private road operators.
We’re seeking a Senior Sustainability Managerto lead the development and delivery of Sector Sustainability initiatives and manage sector reporting and compliance across all facets of Environment, Social and Governance.

What you will be doing:

• Manage the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives for the transport sector across Australia and New Zealand.
• Lead strategic initiatives across the Transport sector including Infrastructure Sustainability accredited ratings, carbon management system (PAS2080), circular economy, social sustainability outcomes and emissions reductions
• Champion cultural awareness and support diversity and inclusion initiatives
• Contribute to strong governance outcomes by implementing and applying sound processes and reporting and living the Ventia values of challenge, collaboration, ingenuity and integrity.
• Lead/participate in sustainability working groups both internally within Ventia as well as externally in collaboration with our clients and industry.
• Develop action plans and performance monitoring frameworks to support the delivery of initiatives.
• Engage with relevant industry organisations to promote Ventia sustainability activities and contribute to industry thought leadership
• Develop business cases and requests for approval for sustainability initiatives and programs.
• Collaborate with sustainability professionals across Ventia and contribute to increasing Ventia’s organisational maturity and capability in the area of sustainability
• Contribute to the Sector Sustainability strategy and help to monitor and refine our initiatives over time

About you:

• Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering or related discipline.
• IS Accredited Professional and/or Green Star/NABERS certified (desirable).
• Experience with lifecycle assessment and/or PAS2080 carbon management system standard (desirable)
• Advanced communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to manage relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
• Understanding of carbon emissions and ability to undertake calculations.
• Ability to manipulate, analyse and draw insights from complex datasets.
• Minimum five years experience working as a Sustainability Manager or equivalent
• Understanding/experience with the infrastructure sector (desirable)
