The Opportunity
You will play a key role in upholding the integrity of the University's network and systems. As an integral part of the cyber security team, you will be responsible for delving into security incidents, coordinating containment strategies, and overseeing remediation efforts. Your scope will encompass conducting thorough threat analyses and vulnerability assessments across the University landscape.
Another key component of your duties, you will be assisting in the design, implementation, and operations of the Universities Security Operations Centre (SOC) to monitor, investigate, and respond to security threats before they harm business operations. Furthermore, you will collaborate with teams across the University to ensure security policies and procedures are implemented effectively, monitored, and assessed for on-going improvements.
You will
- protect the University’s information and assets from cyber security threats by detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats;
- conduct threat analysis and vulnerability assessments to identify security risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures; and
- collaborate with other teams to design, implement and test security controls and technologies to enhance the security posture of the University and address emerging threats.
About you
Possessing strong communication and outstanding interpersonal skills, you will excel in conveying information to diverse audiences, tailoring your approach to accommodate varying levels of technical experience. Your strong time management and organizational prowess will be evident in your ability to seamlessly navigate multiple concurrent projects, achieving successful results.
You will possess:
- A relevant undergraduate qualification and with at least 4 years hands-on experience working in a Security Operations Analyst role or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of security technologies, enterprise IT environments, Microsoft technology, identity management, ICT, networking protocols, security standards and frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to convey information clearly to broad audiences with varying degrees of technical experience.
- Knowledge of cyber security best practices and Australian Government security standards, such as the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Experience in documenting risk and compliance activities, and experience performing information security audits or risk assessments.
- Experience conducting assessments of cyber security services and processes, utilising your knowledge of industry best-practice and existing frameworks.
Please note, to ensure availability of fundamental IT systems and services, from time-to-time IT staff can be required to work outside normal working hours and/or be rostered to be on-call.
