Technical Officer (Histology)

Status:                           Full time – 37.5 hours per week 

Department:                  Histology

About The Role:

• Perform a wide range of Histology techniques including specimen reception, processing, embedding, and sectioning
• Perform specialist Histology techniques including immunohistochemistry, special stains, and anatomical cut-up
• Use laboratory application software
• Apply quality systems & continuous improvement processes
• Maintain equipment including cleaning and chemical handling
• Perform laboratory cleaning duties including specimen disposal

Selection Criteria:

1. Appropriately qualified - Diploma in Laboratory Technology or 2 years’ full time study in a Science based degree
2. Knowledge of current diagnostic techniques would be highly regarded 
3. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
4. The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision
5. An understanding of quality control techniques
6. Proficient, motivated, enthusiastic and highly organised with great attention to detail
7. Previous experience within a diagnostic laboratory in Histology will be considered advantageous
8. Must be able to work 7.5hr rostered shifts between 630am and 1000pm Monday to Friday and weekends or public holidays as required.
9. Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis at the time of application.
