Min experience: 1-2 years in a PR agency environment

Basis: Full time 

We are looking for a Senior Account Executive to join Common State’s hospitality team. They will assist the broader publicity team in the smooth delivery of all PR campaigns for our diverse client roster, with a particular focus on one of the world’s leading spirit portfolios. 

This role requires someone with a passion for communications and learning, who is able to handle the many and varied aspects of planned publicity campaigns and PR activity. The ideal person will have previous experience within a consumer PR agency, specifically within hospitality would be particularly favourable. 

Daily responsibilities will include responding to media enquiries; media monitoring and reporting; preparation and management of media assets; development of press collateral; media outreach and pitch development; media hosting, client management and management of external suppliers.

Who you’ll be working with 

Internal: the rest of Common State’s PR team, company directors, and finance / accounts 

External: brand marketing team and ambassadors, other agencies e.g. media, digital marketing etc, talent / influencers, press, content (i.e. video and photography).

Responsible for:

  • Develop and deliver targeted campaign outreach and media pitches across Common State’s diverse campaign roster with specific focus on major drinks client. 
  • Assist with the management of on-the-ground campaign activity including photo shoots, filming opportunities, launch events, interviews, schedules, and briefings across clients and campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage, prepare regular press updates for clients, maintain media logs across projects, manage media clippings and assist in compiling reports.
  • Maintain collateral filing systems for images, video, press kits etc.
  • Identify, develop and maintain strategic relationships with key media and client contacts.
  • Research, create and maintain media contact databases and lists.
  • Coordinate the distribution of media releases and alerts and the administration of invitations and RSVPs.
  • Research and generate ideas for media coverage across clients and campaigns feeding into strategic planning.
  • Research and manage relevant influencer and talent opportunities and outreach.
  • Draft materials and documentation for client programs including launch plans, press releases, influencer briefs, interview briefing notes, agendas, presentations and more.

Skills and experience required:

  • A passion for food, drink, hospitality, culture and communications.
  • A solid understanding of media relations and strategy. 
  • Strong administration and excellent organisational skills.
  • High level attention to detail across multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team as well as independently.
  • Ability to think quickly and strategically as well as problem solve in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Confident phone manner, strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and time management skills with the ability to manage competing tasks.
  • Strong IT skills and experience in G Suite is desirable.
  • Some experience using Canva, Mailchimp, Wordpress, Streem or alternative media monitoring service is desirable.
  • Proven experience, full time or internship at an agency within the consumer PR environment.

The ideal candidate for this position will be dialled in on the most current, culturally important people, events, brands and more. They must have an interest in learning how to create, shape and implement holistic PR strategies. Working at pace and with a sense of humour, this individual will play a critical role in Common State’s success by working closely as a team member to ensure PR campaigns are implemented, and delivered successfully.

This role is suited to someone who has cut their teeth in a PR agency and looking for their next challenge. Experience in publicity or communications is required. A keen eye for detail and creativity, excellent organisation and administrative skills, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Please note: Common State offers flexible working options to best suit each employee. Most of the Common State team opt for a hybrid split between our Melbourne based office space and home. However, due to the Sydney based location of the primary client attached to this specific role, we would favour Sydney applicants.
