Job Description: Senior Tax Accountant (Part-Time)

We are an emerging boutique firm located in Geelong, Victoria, specializing in CFO advisory services. We cater to a diverse client base across Australia, focusing on delivering top-notch financial guidance and strategic tax solutions. We are in search of a seasoned Senior Accountant to join our small team on a part-time basis to complement our Advisory focus.

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in the establishment and efficient management of our financial and tax preparation processes. This position offers a unique opportunity for a proactive individual who is eager to contribute to the growth of a budding firm. With flexible hybrid office arrangements and a supportive team, we offer a fun, relaxed work environment for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financials & Tax Management: Take the lead in setting up and overseeing the firm's year-end financials and tax preparation processes. We currently do not offer financials preparation so this role will be responsible for helping us get this off the ground.
• Legislative Compliance: Stay abreast of tax legislation and updates to ensure the firm's compliance and provide informed advice to clients and other staff.
• BAS Preparation: Manage the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) in adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Bookkeeping: Conduct bookkeeping tasks with a focus on Xero-based systems, ensuring accurate financial records.
• Administrative Support: Assist with administrative duties, including ASIC management and entity setups, to ensure smooth operations.
• Tax Advisory: Prepare complex written tax advice, specializing in areas such as Small Business CGT restructures, International Tax, and small business structuring. *(depending on experience)

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, with a solid understanding of financial and tax advisory services. Ideally 10+ years and able to complete financials and tax to a high standard with minimal manager input.
• Qualifications: CPA or CA accreditation required.
• Technical Skills: Expert in Xero, and familiarity with Australian tax laws and regulations.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, an organised person is ideal.
• Pro-activity: A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. As this is a micro-firm looking to grow, there is a lot of hands-on problem solving required from all members of the team.
• Location: Based in or around Geelong, Victoria, with the ability to work in a hybrid office setting.
