Your Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic professional to be part of a dynamic team which supports Business Units through a range of finance functions, including performance reporting, budget development, monitoring and review of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial information and compliance with applicable legislation.
The scope of the Senior Accountant role is accountable for the financial operations and compliance across various entities as assigned across the APAC region.
- Perform month end and year end close processes, including accounting journals, accruals, adjustments, IFRS and USGAAP entries and submission of financial reports into reporting platform within agreed time frames.
- Prepare and submit timely month end Defence balance sheet reconciliations, supporting work papers and maintenance of financial account accuracy.
- Responsible for analysis of monthly and quarterly results and presenting to relevant stakeholders.
- Responsible for the preparation of New Zealand annual statutory accounts and related notes in accordance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries including inter-company transactions.
- Assist in monthly forecasting, annual budget preparations and presentations.
- Assist in monthly operation reviews with stakeholders.
- Assist with working capital management and production of cash flow forecasts.
- Assist in improving business partnering capabilities.
- Assist with preparing risk and opportunities and relevant dashboard reporting.
- Assist to drive continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices, internal controls and compliance.
- Assist with accounting system and software changes as required.
- Involvement in the budgeting process, collaborating with Operational Defence and Support / Corporate function departments to establish financial goals and developing forecasts based on historical data and future expectations.
- Assist with the timely preparation and lodgment of monthly New Zealand BAS, GST, FBT and other tax compliance work as required.
- Assist with tender submissions and annual price revision calculations.
- Prepare various ad hoc reports from Corporate / Group Finance, perform data analysis, and produce meaningful and useful financial reports as the need arises.
- Support with other ad-hoc projects or priorities that may support operational and business success as required.
What will help you to succeed?
- BIG 4/mid-tier experience desired.
- Tertiary qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or equivalent Business discipline.
- CA/CPA qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years experience post CA/CPA qualification.
- Must be proficient in Excel, Intermediate to Advance level
- Must be able to problem solve, meet deadlines and organise competing priorities.
