The Team Leader General Ledger ‘s mission is to ensure that the monthly General Ledger accounting close process, journal entries and analysis are completed timely and accurately to support the financial closing. The role has responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of all financial reports and that General Ledger transactions are processed efficiently and effectively.

In addition to this, the Team Leader General Ledger contributes to improving the position of KSSC within the NEOM DSV JV organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close and ensuring that the monthly packs, journals, and recons have been prepared with the expected quality.
  • Support the Accounting Manager and Team Lead General Ledger to Supervise, track, and evaluate day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information.
  • Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reports.
  • Maintain accounting controls by implementing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and analyses department work and reports back to the accounting manager/team lead General Ledger on how to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy, reliability & compliance.
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and NEOM DSV JV SSC.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and General Ledger structure.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the NEOM DSV JV accounting manual and ensure that journals are processed in line with this manual and any differences to statutory reporting is adequately reported in the statutory accounts.
  • Review and maintain the month end checklists and ensure they are actioned.
  • Review intercompany rebills and accruals as well as ensuring proper review of the “to” and “from” Accounts.
  • Review the Intercompany Matching report and relevant journals.
  • Review reasons for intercompany differences and determine root causes to rectify going forward.
  • Review and maintain recurring allocation entries on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Review journals for validity and accurate support – standard and recurring journals as well as journals stemming from controller reviews.
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Monitoring of KPI's which needs to be delivered on within NEOM DSV JV SSC.
  • Identify training needs within the accounting team and set-up on the job training initiatives.
  • Review reconciliations of sub ledgers to G/L.
  • Review Balance Sheet reconciliations monthly and advise on any risks and/or opportunities and assess for any process improvements.
  • Review Fixed and leased asset ledgers/schedules and recons, identifying areas for process improvement. Ensure quarterly verifications of assets as per Group requirements.
  • Inspect weekly liquidity reporting ensuring accuracy.
  • Assists in maintaining and managing Accounting Department Cost center budget vs actuals.
  • Ensure coding guides are maintained and updated and ensure quarterly review by Controllers.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the internal control procedures and ensure that all key controls are adhered to.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure that the different financial processes are respected locally not only by the Finance employees but also Operational persons.

Educational Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar degree/qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Financial Shared Services Environment.
  • Previous experience in month end reporting procedures.
  • Be comfortable with different accounting policies (local GAAP versus IFRS)
  • Experienced with reporting and operating systems (SAP is an asset)
  • Experience in supply chain and logistics would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in the accounting function for a Saudi or Middle Eastern Entity
  • Professional certification or qualification (CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, or similar) would be an added advantage.

  • Medium to advanced PC knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
  • SAP knowledge is a strong asset.

  • Be able to work well under pressure and deliver on deadlines.
  • Good understanding of financial statements and related reports.
  • Possess good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Self-starter who will use own initiative.
  • Controls and process focused.
  • Working knowledge of local tax and accounting regulations.
  • Fluent in English, Arabic, favored.
