As a Senior Accountant – Revenue & Treasury at Mackay Regional Council, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of financial transactions, revenue recognition, and treasury activities. This position aims to contribute to the financial integrity of the Council by assisting in the annual modelling of Council's rates and charges and responding to queries from community groups and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting functions.
Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards.
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Assist in the management of financial risks and opportunities.
Provide financial advice and support to various departments and stakeholders.
Participate in audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Mentor and guide junior team members (Senior Accountants).
Qualifications and Experience:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce or Accounting
Desirable - Eligibility for membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or Chartered Accountants association.
Experience in and an understanding of Local Government accounting procedures, guidelines and Australian Auditing Standards.
Experienced in TechOne Software (Finance 1 / Ci Anywhere)

Proficiency in financial software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast paced, high volume team.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
