The Accountant will also be involved in preparing statutory accounts for various entities, and the annual external and internal audits.The Accountant will be dealing with large volumes of transactions and in a complex reporting framework so attention to detail is critical to the role. Providing great customer service to internal customers and the continuous improvement of finance processes provide opportunities for the Accountant to stand out.KEY DUTIESThe key duties and objectives are outlined below.Statutory Accounts
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts of various entities including:
- Intertek Robotics Laboratories Pty Ltd (General Purpose Financial Report, Tier 2)
- Intertek Technical Services Pty Ltd (General Purpose Financial Report, Tier 2)
- Intertek Testing Services NZ Ltd (General Purpose Financial Report)
- Intertek Testing Services (Fiji) Ltd (Special Purpose Financial Report)
- Completing external audit requests
- Coordination of all IFRS 16 Leases reporting and compliance requirements to Group with the assistance of the accountants
- Provide guidance regarding the correct application of IFRSs to day-to-day issues e.g. capitalisable vs non capitalisable costs under IAS 16 Property, Plant and Equipment
- Assist the RFC with:
- the resolution of non-routine problems and the completion of special projects
- working capital reporting
- drafting policies and procedures
- identifying and implementing opportunities to improve finance functions and processes
- Ensure 100% compliance with internal controls
- Direct preparation and analysis of credit notes
- Completing internal audit requests
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly standing journals and accruals
- Prepare monthly cost allocations, including: inventory true-up, ITSA/IRL Atlas jnl, Optus, IT equipment leases (HP)
- Run credit card processes via ProMaster
- Review and post bad debt provision journal
- Reconciliation of prepayment accounts and associated accruals
- Upload of monthly Group reporting packs
- Completion of ABS (Australia) and StatsNZ surveys
- Completion of monthly FX exposure reports
- Undertake all other duties as required to ensure reporting deadlines are met and exceptional customer service is provided to internal customers
- Environmental reporting
- Approval of daily banking
- Managing the accounting and reconciliation for worker's compensation premiums
- Preparation of monthly BAS for:
- IAH Group (ITSA, Geotech, IMSA, IAH)
- IRL JV
- Fiji
- PNG
- NZ
- Sharing responsibilities of the other accountants, team members, Treasury and ICO Accountant when they are on leave as deemed necessary by the management
- Ensure that conduct is at all times professional and ethical
- Maintain a positive work environment

- Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
- Ensure accounting records are in compliance with IFRSs
- Ensure compliance with Internal Controls (Core Mandatory Controls) at all times
- Observe the Australian Professional and Ethical Standards Board APES 110 - Code of Ethics for Accounting Professionals
- Make the RFC aware of any ethics breaches, internal control failures, incorrect application of IFRSs, potential fraud, or any other suspected illegal activity
- Maintain professional reading and knowledge in accounting topics including IFRSs and statutory account preparation
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Chartered Accountant/Certified Practising Accountant qualification having 8+ years of experience
- Experience preparing or auditing general purpose financial reports (IFRS)

- Previous experience in a complex reporting environment (e.g. significant foreign currency transactions and FX gains/losses, multiple entities with different functional currencies and a large volume of intercompany transactions, translation of financial statements to presentation currency, multiples dimensions of reporting (companies summarised by business lines which are broken down into operating units; operating unit activity broken down by department and/or summarised by function; additional use of further Cat codes for additional layers or reporting e.g. affiliate, project, product, service)
