Joining a team of 9 and reporting to the Accounting Manager, a newly created opportunity exists for a Senior Accountant to join the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, industry regulations, and tax laws
- Management of FBT and BAS/IAS
- Application of tax effect accounting
- Acquisition accounting and consolidations
- Lease accounting
- Assist in mentoring and training the accounting team
- Process invoices, cost adjustments, credit card receipts, and expense reimbursements
- Calculate and post end-of-month provisions and accrual journals
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and end-of-month/year reporting
- Identify and resolve existing and emerging accounting issues
- Evaluate processes to maximize efficiency
- Project work
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role
- CPA or CA qualification preferred
- A combined background in both public practice as well as commercial
- Experience working in a large corporate organisation
- An aptitude for and strong skills in technical aspects of accounting
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven track record in achieving results and prioritizing work
- Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards/AIFRS
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and work with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
- Willingness to assist other areas as needed
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
