About the Opportunity
Through our membership of Safe Work Australia (SWA) Ai Group has a unique opportunity to influence the future of work health and safety and workers’ compensation in Australia.
Funding has recently been made available by the Australian Government to assist Ai Group to fulfill our role more effectively as a Safe Work Australia member.
Therefore, we are seeking an experienced Senior Adviser – National WHS Policy to support our Manager – National WHS & Worker’s Compensation Policy. This role will work collaboratively to maximise outcomes by utilising individual and collective skills of the team and draw on the experience of employers to inform actions.
Whilst the reality of each day will be different, you can expect to be accountable for:
• Developing and implementing projects that contribute to the delivery of the National WHS Strategy 2023 - 2033, including but not limited to psychosocial hazards, artificial intelligence, gig economy, hazardous substances
• Supporting full engagement in SWA tripartite policy development and decision-making processes, including attendance at working group meetings
• Engaging with employers and employer associations to undertake consensus building activities on work health and safety and workers’ compensation policy matters
• Facilitating engagement with members to enable them to genuinely contribute ideas, input and experience through broad and in-depth outreach.
To best succeed in this role you will have a detailed knowledge of WHS laws with skill, expertise and interest in one or more of the following areas:
• psychosocial health and safety, with a focus on work design solutions
• chemical safety, with a specific understanding of workplace exposure standards and their application in the workplace
• return to work strategies and approaches to build capabilities within employers to better manage workers compensation claims, particularly those that are complex in nature
• practical engagement and/or research capabilities with a focus on interaction with a broad range of business types and sizes, building communities of practice to inform and develop employer capabilities and inform national policy
