Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and dynamic individual to join the Economic Strategy Branch as a Senior Policy Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. 

The Economic Strategy Branch plays a critical role in driving the government's economic reform agenda. It contributes to the development of innovative and impactful economic policies that create a more prosperous and inclusive Victoria. 

The Senior Policy Adviser position will play a critical role in preparing high-quality policy advice across a range of economic issues.

The position requires the flexibility to respond to rapid changes in priorities, attention to detail, curiosity, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong conceptual and analytical skills and the proven ability to provide high quality advice in a time-pressured environment.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience providing authoritative, high quality and timely economic policy advice in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to influence decisions through the preparation of evidence-informed recommendations.
  • Sound analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgment applied to deliver positive, innovative solutions to complex policy issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, representational and communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a positive team culture, ability to support others to achieve common goals, self-starting and proactive.
