The role
The Corporate Affairs team within Suncorp Bank plays an important role in strengthening relationships that enhance and protect Suncorp's reputation with our people, customers and the communities we serve.
Reporting to an Executive Manager Corporate Affairs, you will be part of a team creating and delivering strategic communications and tactical plans to support Corporate Affairs and the Bank's strategic priorities. This role acts as a trusted advisor to senior spokespeople and leaders while providing advice and support with regards to the full range of Corporate Affairs activity, including responsibility for strategic communications and managing issues in conjunction with the broader Corporate Affairs team.
This is a 12 month MTC opportunity.
What you'll do
- Manage media issues and provide advice on key mitigation strategies consultation with EM Corporate Affairs
- Be proactive in identifying issues, problems and opportunities, and strategic in formulating appropriate responses
- Oversee the writing and editing of media responses, speeches and briefing documents for external and business issues
- Contribute to the Group's media team to ensure issues are well coordinated and supported, in consultation with EM Corporate Affairs
- Provide support for crisis communications to maintain a positive reputation for the Bank and Group
- Provide advise on key issues that may impact financial services
- Work closely with industry bodies ie. ABA on issues and opportunities for the industry
- Leverage business insights, skills and abilities across the Corporate Affairs team to ensure that practices are highly efficient and effective
- Build and maintain trusted stakeholder relationships
What you'll bring
- Degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, Media Studies or business-related discipline (mandatory)
- 5 years + communications experience with sound knowledge of communications principles, best practice and emerging trends and technologies
- Strategic communications, change management communications in a multi-disciplinary environment experience (desired)
- Experience in financial services or tech industries (desired)
