The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a free community-based tertiary mental health service provided through the WCHN across South Australia, providing care to those with severe and/or complex mental health needs. CAMHS provides services to: infants / children / young people up to 18 (16 in some areas) for community, statewide and hospital-based services for perinatal women.
CAMHS Connect is the triage service for CAMHS in SA and provides a consistent phone entry point for consumers and standardise referral management across CAMHS. Connect staff will undertake phone triage and make recommendations for ongoing mental health support where appropriate. Including to CAMHS teams and other mental health services.
The Opportunity
Exciting opportunities exist within CAMHS to join us as a Senior Allied Health Clinician.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provides a comprehensive therapeutic triage assessment, generating a collaborative future treatment plan for clients accessing the CAMHS services.
- In partnership with the other senior staff, is responsible for day-to-day clinical leadership of CAMHS Connect.
- Uses their knowledge and experience to ensure best practice standards are achieved in relation to entry into CAMHS and is available to consult with other staff within the team around complex clinical presentations.
- Works collaboratively and in partnership with a broad range of government, non-government and private practitioners/service providers, consumers and carers.
- Is accountable for the delivery of high-quality care, which is consistent with the Department of Health & WCHN quality framework.
- The Senior Allied Heath Clinician accepts accountability for the outcomes of the team’s practices in CAMHS Connect, for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy and developing team performance and a positive work culture in the interest of patient/client outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Australia OR
- Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification and general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and be endorsed in clinical practice OR
- Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and teamwork.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of responsibility.
- Clear communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
- Experience in mentoring, managing, and supervising professionals and students.
- Ability to conduct assessments and interventions for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families.
