Senior Associate - Tax

The role

You will join a well-resourced, busy team working for a mix of public sector and corporate clients, with opportunities to collaborate across multiple practice groups within the firm.  Working flexibly, this is an opportunity to step into your seniority and carve out the next steps in your career pathway.

The Taxation Practice Group

Working closely with Amber Agustin you will be part of a practice group that provides a fully integrated service across the spectrum of taxation issues. The Melbourne Taxation team represents a strong client base of multinationals, ASX listed companies, iconic Australian businesses and public sector clients, working on a variety of matters, including:

• reviews, audits and disputes
• regulator engagement
• ATO (and state revenue office) powers including raids/access and notices
• employment related taxes
• superannuation obligations.

As part of our National Tax Team you will have the opportunity to develop and pursue your own area of interest.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

• At least 10 years’ post-qualified experience across a range of tax matters in a (preferably top tier) accounting or legal firm environment
• Forensic approach to evidence and able to do "the deep dive"
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Strong experience in either tax disputes or employment taxes specialisations will be highly regarded
• Experience drafting advices, ruling applications, objections, and submissions 
• Experience in coaching, mentoring and supervising more junior lawyers
• Experience in undertaking tax calculations for employment taxes and superannuation guarantees
• A strong client service focus and work ethic
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment; and
• Enthusiasm, ambition and the energy to support a busy and growing tax practice with a strong collaborative nature.
