The Cabinet Office is seeking applications to fill immediate Senior Associate vacancies and offering the opportunity to join the Clerk Grade 9/10 Talent Pool.

About The Cabinet Office:

Leading policy, strategy and integrity from the heart of government

  • We lead and coordinate strategy and policy across government, including ]action on the Government’s key priorities.
  • We provide expert independent policy, legal and governance advice to the Premier and Cabinet, including on National Cabinet matters.
  • We uphold Cabinet conventions and provide stewardship of the NSW Cabinet system to support good decision-making.  
About the role

Undertake policy and/or project work to inform policy directions, facilitate service delivery reforms or major initiatives and provide well researched and sound options on which the Department can rely for effective decision making or delivery.

Furthermore, you will play a key part in supporting the processes of the NSW Cabinet and providing policy advice for government decisions, demonstrating a commitment to effective governance and policy execution. 

This recruitment process will be utilised to fill several immediate vacancies (including some ongoing and temporary roles) and to establish a Talent Pool for future vacancies.

About the Talent Pool

We are seeking professionals with strong strategic, negotiation and policy analysis skills and experience to establish a Senior Associate Talent Pool to fill future vacancies across The Cabinet Office as they arise over the next 18 months. 

You. Our ideal candidate.
  • You’re proficient in developing and evaluating detailed reports to support public policy commitments and significant projects.You’re capable of reviewing Cabinet proposals, Bills, and project submissions. You have a proven aptitude to contribute to the development of recommendations for sound and feasible initiatives.
  • Experience in facilitating liaison and consultation on policy, project, or program issues is desirable.
  • You have strong written communication skills and can accurately and persuasively represent proposed policy positions via briefs, correspondence, and papers.
  • You can develop, review and edit draft responses to departmental and ministerial correspondence and briefings ensuring key issues are addressed, the information is factual, accurate and succinct, and the NSW policy position is properly represented.
  • You can effectively scope and prepare project plans incorporating a variety of resources and stakeholder feedback whilst meeting project deliverables.
  • You foster effective communication and cooperative work arrangements across various organisational levels including coaching team members.
  • You are highly organised and have proficient project management skills, with experience undertaking secretariat work being desirable.

The work you could do:
  • Partner with agencies across government to deliver major policy reform.
  • Make a significant contribution to the outcomes of the NSW Budget.
  • Lead engagement with the Commonwealth on national funding agreements.
  • Support the government to develop intergovernmental strategy and then help to execute it with the Commonwealth and other States and Territories.

Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10. Package includes base salary ($120,859 - $ 133,183) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
