ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Associate/Associate Director will work closely with the executive director and Principal (Landscape). Noting this role means you will be responsible for leading and driving design and the delivery of strategic planning projects, including providing advice to private and government clients. This role is responsible for sourcing, servicing and maintaining key clients, managing complex projects, leading and preparing tenders and proposals, technical lead expertise for large scale projects and mentoring and leading a team of urban design and strategic planning experts.
The role works alongside my clients diverse team including their Executive Directors, Principal Planner, Urban Planners and Environmental Scientists and a strong Landscape team.
This Senior Associate/Associate Director will be responsible for:
- BRINGING IN AND WINNING WORK! Business Development
- Project managing rezoning proposals, masterplans, structure plans, urban design studies and preparation of planning controls (LEP/DCP).
- Undertaking testing of planning controls and preparing graphic design drawings/diagrams to support urban design studies and other projects.
- Managing site planning investigations, feasibility assessments and providing technical advice on urban design and strategic planning projects
- Preparing technical advice and reports and presenting findings to clients.
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with clients, government and other industry professionals to ensure a continuation of repeat and expanded business opportunities
- Managing the preparation of fee proposals and sourcing new opportunities.
- Engagement and management of sub-consultants, including definition of scope of works, contract preparation, execution and budget tracking for projects.
- Leading and mentoring a team in delivering strategic planning and urban design services.
- Developing business opportunities for the team and business.
- Degree qualification in Landscape Architecture
- A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the industry and sector, with experience in State or Local Government preferable.
- High level technical knowledge across all relevant planning, urban design and environmental aspects to deliver projects.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaborate across service areas and projects to meet project deliverables.
- Capability to drive project outcomes and find solutions for complex planning issues.
- Deliver quality project management through attention to detail, prioritising and delivering to meet tight deadlines.
- High level written, graphic and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with clients at all levels.
- People management experience and ability to mentor junior team members.
