- Responsible for establishing and conducting analytical tests of vaccine products and samples using bio-analytical techniques and immunoassays (e.g. ELISA, protein, hemagglutination inhibition, SPR).
- Develop and/or investigate new methods for analysis of different antigens and viruses.
- Responsible for validating methods to support clinical testing of product.
- Designing and conducting vaccine stability experiments.
- Authoring and reviewing technical documentation (protocols, procedures, methods and reports).
- Lead the preparation of biological buffers and reagents.
- Data processing, analysis and documentation of test results and manufacturing protocols in compliance with the Quality Management System.
- Concentration and handling of vaccines including live virus vaccines.

- 8+ years industry experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated track record of vaccine / protein analytical experience, preferably within a pharmaceutical industry environment.
Desired experience and skills
- Extensive experience in protein biochemistry with expertise in various analytical techniques.
- Experience in the physical and chemical characterisation of vaccine / protein solutions and solids (e.g. particle size analysis, calorimetry, water-content, and purity assessment).
- Experience in Assay and Methods development; and chemical analysis (e.g. liquid chromatography, spectroscopic techniques).
- Ability to test vaccines / biologics (e.g. protein concentration, potency / purity assays (cell-based neutralisation, ELISA, CCID50, SPR) in finished product.
- Experience in analytical method development, validation, and method transfer.
- Industry based experience that will have come from pharmaceutical, biomedical or biotechnology sectors in vaccines and biologics.
- Demonstrated capability in leading projects to meet development milestones.
- The ability to guide the technical work of a small, dedicated team of scientists working across different vaccine products at different stages of development.

About Vaxxas
Vaxxas is a privately held, clinical stage biotechnology company focused on enhancing the performance of existing and next-generation vaccines with its proprietary high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP). Vaxxas is targeting initial applications in infectious disease and oncology.
The company’s innovative, needle-free technology can eliminate or significantly reduce the need for vaccine refrigeration during storage and transportation, easing the resource and logistics burden of maintaining the vaccine cold chain.
In addition to a Phase I clinical study of a COVID-19 vaccine candidate, Vaxxas is performing demonstration work in preparation for clinical evaluation under contract with the United States Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) on pandemic vaccination solutions, among multiple other clinical and preclinical programs.
The company has forged collaborations with leading global organisations in vaccine commercialisation, including Merck/MSD, CEPI, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
