Your Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Brand Manager is a proven marketer from the food, retail, grocery (FMCG) sector, responsible for building the Cleaver’s brand. With a strong understanding and intuition for the chilled food segment, along with experience in e-commerce and digital – this role understands the demands of the grocery and retail channels and puts consumer benefits at the heart of strategy and execution. 

Your Primary Responsibilities will Include

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive brand strategy to ensure a strong return on investment and demand pipeline.
  • Develop a clear and compelling brand positioning, messaging, and value proposition to differentiate the brand and protect and grow shelf space in a seasonally competitive environment.
  • Collaborate with the sales team as well as retail and grocery partners to tap into consumer, retail, and channel insights to identify mutually beneficial growth initiatives and trade promotions (with an emphasis on online and instore).
  • Oversee the execution of marketing campaigns – with an emphasis on digital and in-store executions - to grow awareness, preference, and conversion to sales, tracking and reporting on product performance (sales, share, profitability) and post campaign insights.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, particularly Sales and NPD (New Product Development) to drive NPD through stage gates, improve the consumer experience, and boost sales performance.
  • Manage the national brand budget and product portfolio, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance product, packaging, and performance.
  • Establishing networks across trade, agency, and media to build presence for Cleavers, generating strong media value for the brand. 
  • Lead the creative process for packaging, communications, advertising, consumer, and trade promotions across various channels.
  • Conduct in-depth consumer research and analyse category data to gain valuable insights. Identify and define target audiences for effective marketing campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyse brand performance, market data and sales performance insights to optimise strategies.

Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience in a Brand Manager or Senior Brand Manager role within the current FMCG space.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience in the delivery of brand strategies and activations that drive results.
  • Demonstrated understanding of integrated brand and channel plans that achieve commercial outcomes.
  • Well versed in marketing and product portfolio strategies, enabling the formulation of effective business plans.
  • A tertiary qualification in Business with a major in Marketing or equivalent.
  • Considerable market analysis and consumer research experience.
  • Displays initiative, personal drive, and motivation.
  • Works both collaboratively and independently and can flex and adapt well in changing environments.
  • Highly strategic and innovative, known for attention to detail and successful execution abilities.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, adept at engaging effective with various stakeholders.
