The Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Senior Business Financial Crime Risk Manager will play a significant and critical role in the success of WPB’s objectives and outcomes with regards to deterring, detecting, and protecting against Financial Crime Risk. The role will report to Head of Financial Crime Risk and Fraud Operations for WPB and be responsible for a number of key Financial Crime activities, specifically, Transaction Monitoring, Name Screening & Customer Risk Monitoring Unit (CRMU) related programmes of work and implementation. Requirements of the role will also include both ad-hoc and large scale projects and tasks related to Financial Crime. The Senior Manager must ensure the primary operational aspects are managed effectively to achieve strategic business and customer outcomes in a sustainable, ethical and cost-effective manner, and in accordance with the Financial Crime Global Standards, working closely with local, Regional and Global stakeholders.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Work closely with all stakeholders including local BFCR&FO team, 2LOD, frontline, GSC operation team, ASP Region and Group function line.
- Accountable for the 1LoD Transaction Monitoring (TM) including oversight of alert volumes, quality and adjudication, optimisation, and backlog management as well as a key stakeholder in managing downstream impact.
- Ensure Customer Name Screening (Sanctions, PEP, Negative News) processes are aligned to the Group policy and local regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for being the AUH WPB lead for Customer Risk Monitoring Unit (CRMU). Working collaboratively with stakeholders (e.g., Data & Analytics, CRMU Operation and Strategy and 2LoD etc.) to optimise and enhance WPBs Financial Crime Risk landscape.
- Ensure proactive risk reviews are conducted against WPB’s portfolio, to ensure known and emerging Financial Crime Risk typologies are identified and addressed, which may involve control enhancements, remediation or risk mitigating activities.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree and over 3 years of experience in Financial Crime.
- Proven leadership experience managing a large operational team with oversight of an offshore team.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, developing others, with the ability to build an empowering, people focused culture that encourages the use of one’s own initiative to own and resolve customer issues.
- High level of analytical and reasoning skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills in order to meet competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and presentation skills.
