Senior Financial Analyst - Business Partnering, Treasury Finance and Services

  • understanding management accounting and reporting
  • anticipating the financial implications of business decisions and providing evidence-based advice
  • building and maintaining financial modelling to support financial reporting and analysis of performance
  • undertaking monthly accruals and journals
  • keeping abreast of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government accounting policies and practices.

Your day as a Senior Financial Analyst, Business Partnering 

The Treasury Finance team is part of the F&S and is responsible for the budgeting, forecasting, accounting and reporting for Treasury entities. Treasury Finance collects state taxation, Commonwealth contributions and undertakes financial distributions with certain NSW agencies. Treasury Finance is responsible for the administration of the Consolidated Fund and providing grants and subsidies to NSW public sector agencies.

Your typical day-to-day work includes contributing and assisting in all management accounting functions of Treasury to ensure that budgeting, monthly reporting and forecasting requirements are met. This includes supporting the team to provide senior executives with accurate forecasts, budgets and reporting. 

This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders.

Achieve success as Senior Financial Analyst,Business Partnering

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. 

You will be successful in this role if you have: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting and CA or CPA qualified 
  • Relevant industry experience – at least 3 years’ experience (preferably post qualification) 
  • Extensive skills and experience in management accounting including budgetary preparation/monitoring, forecasting, accruals and journals
  • Understanding of financial accounting and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and work collaboratively to complete team deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Advanced Excel skills 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and ideally, NSW Government accounting policies 
  • Demonstrated experience using SAP accounting systems to load budgets and forecasts and change profit centre hierarchies 
  • Proficiency in using Financial Management Reporting System (PRIME) will be highly regarded.
