The SiS program is program of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS). SiS, which stands for Support, Information and Strength, is a program which provides legal and non-legal supports to victim/survivors of family domestic and sexual violence.
TALS is a legal service supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in Tasmania and provides legal services, community legal education, and a number of programs assisting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with legal and justice related needs.
The Role
The Senior Case Manager is responsible for non-legal/wrap around supports for clients to ensure Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in Tasmania have access to culturally safe and considered supports to navigate the various legal and social challenges they face while accessing our service.
This role will manage a small team and working alongside our legal team. The Senior Case Manager will supervise and mentor team members while working to support the best outcomes for clients in conjunction with our legal team.
The Senior Case Manager is a member of the leadership team, will actively support and represent the organisation in advocacy, build and manage stakeholder relationships; as well as hold a small case load.
What we are looking for
- Experience with and/or a demonstrated understanding of working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrated commitment and experience working with diverse clients including, family violence and/or sexual assault victims and survivors.
- A demonstrated ability to apply culturally sensitive, trauma informed, person-centred approach to activities and actions.
- Proven experience in providing risk assessments and safety planning, service coordination and the writing of case notes and reports to ensure tailored and effective interventions based on assessment and positive outcomes.
- High level written communication skills to prepare reports, policies, procedures, submissions and other relevant documents.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills to work with a variety of client groups, staff groups, service providers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a multi-skilled, high pressure, client focused environment with the ability to be agile, non-judgmental and empowering.
- Excellent time management and IT skills.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative, be autonomous, and resourceful, while developing and supporting peer and team relationships.
- Confidence and demonstrated ability to support colleagues in psycho-education to support clients overall experience within traditionally challenging legal systems.

Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in related field, or other relevant experience to be discussed.
- Provision of a national police check.
- A current registration to work with vulnerable people.
Travel will occur across Tasmania.
