The Role…

Reporting to the NSW Workers Compensation Claims Team Leader, theSenior Case Manager will be responsible for providing and delivering exceptional service to clients, providing accurate and timely information on Workers Compensation claims processing and administration in compliance with legislation. You will also play a key role in mentoring, coaching, and strategic advice to Case Managers, Low Risk Case Managers and Assistant Case Managers. You will be supporting the Team Leader with identifying any areas for improvement, training, and skill gaps amongst the team.

In this multifaceted role, you will be at the forefront of processing claims and payments, ensuring adherence to scheduled fees and awards while undertaking requirements for injury management. Your responsibilities will extend to reviewing and approving payments, demonstrating your keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in claims management, determining liability on new and continuing claims and issuing appropriate notices and correspondence to employers and injured workers. Your ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders, organise medical examinations, and refer claimants to rehabilitation services will be crucial in facilitating a smooth claims process.

Your role will also encompass various administrative tasks, including assisting with general queries and supporting activities of the NSW Regional Office related to customer service. Compliance with regulatory requirements, such as those set by the Workers Compensation Regulator (SIRA), will be paramount. Attending Workers' Compensation meetings and forums, as well as rehabilitation or medical case conferences, will be part of your responsibilities, highlighting the importance of your presence and input in these settings.

Moreover, your customer service skills will be instrumental in providing timely and accurate support to stakeholders, ensuring their understanding of the Workers Compensation process. Collaborating with the NSW Regional Offices, National Workers Compensation Claims Manager, and NSW Team Leader, you will contribute to building and fostering strong working relationships with clients.

About you… 

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate comprehensive expertise in NSW Workers Compensation legislation, Acts, and Guidelines, demonstrating a practical understanding of their application. With over 5 years of extensive end-to-end claims management experience in the NSW Workers Compensation sector, you should have a proven track record in achieving business outcomes through collaboration with multiple departments within the organisation.

The ideal candidate for this role is focused on meeting the expectations of both internal and external customers, consistently acting with the customer in mind. They excel in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, gaining trust and respect from customers. Additionally, they possess strong organisational skills, understanding how to organise themselves and others while optimising task workflows. They are dedicated to continual improvement, knowing what to measure and how to measure it, and can simplify complex processes to achieve efficiency. Moreover, they are approachable, spending extra time to put others at ease, and are warm, pleasant, and gracious in their interactions, demonstrating sensitivity and patience.

Being a good listener and communicator is paramount, coupled with a team-oriented mindset. You actively seek assistance, ask questions without hesitation, and possess a genuine desire to share and acquire knowledge. You’ve supported the growth of others within the team having mentored and coached team members to build their own skills and knowledge.
