As Senior Child Protection Worker, Placement Services you will be responsible for:
- Engaging collaboratively with District staff, foster carers, community groups and other stakeholders to promote the support, placement and care needs of the children in the care of the Department,
- Participating in planning decisions involving children in care,
- Conducting complex assessments of families and foster families to determine appropriate placement options for children in care,
- Ensuring that carers are supported to formally participate as a team member in assessment and planning for children in care,
- Developing and implementing strategies to build networks and partnerships with local communities and other stakeholders to meet the placement and care needs of children and young people.
- Engaging in opportunities to build trust within local communities by participating in community events to enhance local expertise and professional judgement of Child Protection staff across the state.
- Building knowledge within communities to promote the appointment and recruitment of members of the community who could be eligible as ‘Community Carers’. Community Carers are members of a particular community who have been pre-assessed by the Department to provide care should a child who belongs to the same community enter the CEO’s care.
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position. All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
