About the role:
The Senior Civil Engineer is a critical role to support ongoing construction and future projects.
Initially a 12-month contract role with view to extend beyond on future projects
FIFO on a 3:1 roster to Goyder Wind Farm in South Australia
Flights, accommodation, vehicle and $65 daily per diem
The primary responsibility of the Senior Civil Engineer is to ensure the technical integrity of the EPC wind farm projects including compliance with project scope, project specifications, project schedule, overall budget, and with best engineering and construction practices and applicable regulations. The Senior Civil Engineer will take a leading role in supporting wind farms Civil Balance of Plant (cBoP) for specific activities associated with cBoP design & construction review, RFI during the project tendering and construction phase. The Senior Civil Engineer will also support the broader Sales/Bid team in tender stage activities.
Experience in the wind industry is highly desirable but not essential.
Role responsibilities
- Review of civil drawing and documentation submissions from customers and subcontractors against contractual obligations, industry standards, safety compliance and best practice.
- Develop, specify, plan and agree deliverables for engineering activities.
- Execute the civil design reviews, or evaluation of assigned individual and team projects using sound Civil Engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
- Interpret contractual specifications to produce design specifications.
- Identify improvements in existing civil scope, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
- Prepare and/or check drawings and calculations undertaken by designers and peers in support of design.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with quality & engineering policies and procedures.
- Ensure civil deliverables required to be submitted are provided in a timely, safe and high-quality manner.
- Undertake site inspections to ensure compliance with design and industry standards.
- Assess variations, requests for information (RFIs) and payment claims.
- Attend and provide input to various safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews.
- Preparation of tenders and offers in line with customer’s technical/ administrative requirements furnished in tender/requirements/needs.
About You
- Management of subcontractors and designers in a site based, construction environment.
- Review of civil and structural design in a construction environment
- Experience with Pavement / Road design highly valued
- Experience with Concrete / Foundation design highly valued
- Experience in doing Negotiation with major stakeholders, both clients / contractors
- Ability to operate within high-pressure environment
- Advanced use of MS Office
- Experience with using document control systems highly valued (E.g. Team binder)
- Strong verbal and written communication / negotiation
- Relationship building, both internal and external
- Experience in construction of Wind farms highly valued
Qualifications / Requirements
- Graduate Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- CPEng – Chartered Professional Engineer as granted by Engineers Australia.
- White card
- Relevant Product & EHS training certifications.
- Current valid Drivers Licence
