As one of the nation’s busiest offices, supporting young people and their families on the Gold Coast and South-East Queensland, headspace Southport provides a broad range of programs and services.
headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) program in Southport, operated by Lives Lived Well, is an early intervention service aiming to provide youth-friendly, accessible and effective care, treatment and support to young people aged 12 to 25 who are at risk of developing, or are experiencing, their first episode of psychosis.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Clinician to join us in a full-time capacity on a fixed term contract for 12 months in our Continuing Care Team (CCT).
Our CCT program provides long term care, case management support to young people and their families. Our committed and compassionate multi-disciplinary team have a rich history of working with young people, their families, and carers to help young people achieve their recovery goals.
As a Senior Clinician in the CCT program, you will support our young people by implementing engaging outreach initiatives, including but not limited to creating meaningful engagement opportunities for young people, working within a community outreach model, and developing treatment plans to coordinate care for young people and their families within the service.
What we are looking for
With an established career in the youth mental health, you will be a proactive, dedicated and experienced Senior Clinician looking for your next exciting challenge. Your ability to think on your feet and work effectively in a dynamic, agile environment will be coupled with:
Significant clinical experience working with young people with complex needs experiencing mental health challenges, early psychosis or first episode of psychosis and their families An understanding of the varying needs and issues facing young people Sound knowledge of evidence-based practices and therapeutic interventions for young people presenting with, or at risk of, first episode of psychosis Leadership and mentoring skills – you’ll be supporting the team leader with the development and mentoring early career clinicians. Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills and capacity to manage competing demands, including an individual caseload Highly innovative and creative thinking in solutions and outcomes for youth mental health. Strongly collaborative, solutions-focused, and passionate about process improvements – we welcome ideas and suggestions to make things better and the team are highly collaborative. Ability to lead with empathy and walk alongside your team members, with the confidence to engage in hard conversations when required to assist with their development and growth.
Holding a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or Counselling, you will have significant experience in a multidisciplinary services delivery team and be passionate about early mental health intervention for young people. You will offer a balance of strong mental health clinical skill, and the ability to provide leadership as a Senior Clinician.

The role is based in headspace Southport Office with a salary range of $93,860 – $98,108 plus Salary Packaging options. You will be required to hold a current Australian Driver’s License and Queensland Working with Children Check.
