About this opportunity
Reporting to the Group Executive Strategy and Transformation, you will lead and effectively manage the implementation and continuous improvement of risk, assurance and Compliance frameworks at Queensland Rail. This includes identifying, evaluating and establishing programs to assist managing the organisation's exposure to risks and management of compliance, and provide enterprise oversight through analysis and reporting.
Your team consists of 13 professionals from Enterprise Risk and Assurance, Enabling Risk & Assurance, Compliance and Policy Governance and Business Resilience Discipline Head.
Significant focus will be:
- Review, refocus and roll out of risk, assurance and Compliance strategies, frameworks and processes
- Uplift of risk maturity/culture – influencing, coaching and supporting our business areas
- Driving enhanced connectedness of risk, assurance and Compliance management activity – enabling improved transparency and enterprise insights
- Ensuring Risk and assurance frameworks support QR transformation and risk-based decision making based on expressed appetite

About you
Leading a team of 13 you will need to demonstrate strong, supportive leadership strengths. In addition to having extensive knowledge of contemporary enterprise risk management and governance principles and practices as they apply to large, complex organisations you will demonstrate;
- Strengths in shaping and influencing organisational culture to achieve risk, compliance and governance objectives.
- High level of conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills as applied to diverse stakeholders including Board, Executive and Senior leaders.
A heavy industry background will be beneficial.
