Senior Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead changes and monitor cloud usage and work with Cloud Architects and cloud service consumers to ensure cloud service usage is meeting, and can be evolved to better meet, agency objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Accountable for the quality design and implementation of cloud and “as a service” solutions encompassing automation, orchestration and its related technologies
- Assist with the management of the team including providing a clear sense of direction, setting work priorities and managing resources when required
- Lead technical and architectural discussions, investigate emerging trends and directions and set the technical strategy for the team
- Maintain awareness of cloud service offerings as well as business and customer usage and demands, then advises on, plan and optimises the consumption of cloud services by the agency
- Provide expert advice for project and operational environments
- Provide detailed, specialist technical advice including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriate
- Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future demand
- Liaise with all related infrastructure teams in achieving quality, fit for purpose designs
- Priorities and managing resources when required
- Analyse the quality of requests for change management
- Set direction by contributing and aligning to local business plans and ICT strategies
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and manage and lead change
- University degree or industry certifications in technical, computer science, or engineering discipline is desirable
- 5+ demonstrated years of experience with “as a service” principles including automation, orchestration and related hardware
- Experience in implementation of CI/CD and Azure DevOps
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage key strategic relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with cloud architectures, including the architectural design and deployment of cloud solutions
- Working knowledge of cloud management platforms
- Excellent working knowledge of IT systems environments-operating systems, networking, applications, platforms, and databases
- Experience with test-driven development, release management, system development lifecycles
- Broad knowledge of ITIL Framework
- Ability to think strategically, understand linkages and develop long term plans
