About the role
This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.
The Growth and Future Energy (G&FE) division develops and grows Stanwell’s investment in new low or zero emission technologies and energy products, with effective channels to market to ensure the organisation’s long-term sustainability and profitability. These projects will underpin future revenue opportunities in Stanwell’s wholesale, retail, and hydrogen activities.
The Senior Commercial Advisor will bring unique technical insight to Stanwell with regard to wind, solar and storage development and will support commercial and planning elements of due diligence and project development processes for potential acquisition and greenfield project opportunities.
Key activities include:
- Managing key project evaluation and due diligence activities for new energy projects, including but not limited to:
- commercial / financial evaluations;
- contract / term negotiations;
- procurement, finance, risk, settlements and tax matters;
- integrating relevant technical expertise;
- stakeholder engagement; and
- probity matters as appropriate.
- Liaise closely with internal and external legal counsel via the General Counsel regarding the preparation, review, negotiation and and management of various projects agreements (including joint venture agreements, power purchase agreements and finance documentation) and legal relationships.
- Ensure that the project management of projects occurs within the governance framework and approved cost, schedule and risk boundaries, and with a positive commercial outcome. This includes developing and monitoring project plans and budgets and ensuring that deviations only occur where valid reasons exist.
About you
- Relevant industry experience, including demonstrated experience in any of the key trading markets in which the Corporation operates, including electricity, resources, energy and legal/ financial markets.
- Demonstrated project management experience in a commercial environment is preferable.
- Demonstrated familiarity with, and experience originating, relevant legal and project-related documentation, including confidentiality agreements, memoranda of understanding, term sheets and other legal and commercial instruments.
- Strong negotiation skills, including commercial experience in negotiating and managing relevant agreements e.g. energy sale agreements, joint venture agreements, tripartite agreements, project security and other finance documentation
- Experience in project management capability, including an understanding of project management processes, drivers, related controls and scope management.
