About The Role
Due to business growth, we have a requirement for a new role in our Marketing & Logistics team.
Reporting to the General Manager – Commercial, we are seeking an experience Senior Commercial Analyst to be accountable for oversight of the revenue stream at Whitehaven Coal. This will include the management of commercial and planning processes for the marketing department.
This role will be based in our Newcastle office.
What You’ll Do
- Create a robust control environment for sales operations, counterparty credit and sales contracts through management and development of internal systems and procedures
- Conduct analysis of coal sales performance and revenue identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the completion of the annual planning process for marketing and logistics operations
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and monitor the performance against those budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare and present regular sales performance reports to management,
- Assist in the monitoring and analysis of coal market trends, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing fluctuations, regulatory changes, and competitor activities. Provide insights and recommendations to support pricing and sales strategies.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in commercial analysis, preferably within the coal industry or related sectors.
- Experience in the coal industry across coal mining, coal processing and logistics chain including knowledge of coal pricing (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Global Physical and Financial coal markets and experience in the environment of coal sales and trading
- Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Law
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to build and maintain strong and trusted relationships across all levels of the business
