Job description

Job Purpose: 

  • The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for corporate communications primarily across APAC to inform and promote Vulcan’s purpose and enhance its profile. 
  • This role is pivotal in shaping the narrative of Vulcan and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels. 
  • The role is critical in engaging journalists and media to tell Vulcan’s story. 

Tasks of the job: 

APAC media relations and related activities:  

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure positive coverage. 
  • Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, coordinate interviews and talking points.  
  • Proactively develop media outreach strategies based on what is in the media cycle, looking for opportunities to insert Vulcan’s voice and though leadership into the media landscape. 

ASX reporting and announcements: 

  • Draft and support the development of ASX reporting requirements: announcements, quarterlies, annual and half yearly reports. 

Other communication channels:  

  • Maintain APAC IR and industry events register and prepare relevant communication content to support attendance. 
  • Website content development and platform maintenance for the ‘English Channel’ in conjunction with the global communications team.  
  • Produce engaging social media content across APAC social media platforms.  

Key working relationships

  • Global communications team, Group Chief Financial Officer, Head of Investor Relations, General Counsel and Company Secretary, finance, and Head of ESG.
  • Key external: APAC media, related industry, and event organisations.

Requirements for the job holder: 

  • 7 – 10 years of communications experience.
  • Strong command of the English language and the ability to craft clear and compelling communication content whilst using technical language.
  • Experience working in or managing relationships with media outlets, including pitching stories and handling inquiries and responses.
  • Existing relationships with key media targets.
  • Experience in ASX-related corporate communications and writing style.
  • Degree qualified, preferably in communications, marketing, or media.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with senior leaders, preferably across global teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
