Access theAbout usAs a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service Queensland, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.Purpose of the roleThe Community Engagement unit sets and drives the strategic direction for community engagement and education in the department, and is responsible for providing strategy, policies, and resources to ensure a contemporary and consistent approach to community engagement and education. - Minimum C Class Driver's License (non-restricted).
- Knowledge and experience or qualifications in training and assessment, market research and analytics, education and/or community engagement activities.
- Experience working in an inter-agency/multi-agency or volunteer organisation.
- Knowledge of or experience in community engagement methodologies and practice such as IAP2.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of cost-effective Community Education strategies, programs, systems and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and review of public education resource materials, suitable for use in a range of environments, including on-line, electronic, and print to provide information and develop community resilience.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships, collaborations and strategic alliances with key internal and external stakeholders to maintain high standards of information and service delivery.
- Review and evaluate programs by monitoring outcomes, and identifying best practice alternatives, and provide high-level advice and recommendation to enhance service delivery within the areas of Community Education.
- Facilitate research and analysis of community safety education trends, issues, and initiatives, and assist in determining suitable best practice programs for application in Queensland.
- Coordinate resources, evaluation and/or delivery of multiple Community Education programs to support and effectively manage program activities.
- Represent the department to the community, other agencies, industry bodies and associations or working groups to identify best practice activities within areas of community safety and achieve positive outcomes.
- Monitor and maintain targeted Community Education and resilience programs and identify opportunities to enhance community awareness and preparedness for fire, emergency, and disaster events.
