The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to leading Australia's clean energy transition, building the energy super-highways and enabling nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
As Senior Contract Manager you will be responsible for providing contract development and ongoing contract management services to the project teams. Reporting to the Senior Manager / Commercial, the role will manage the operation of the contract cycle from a project delivery perspective. The role will work closely with the Procurement, Legal, Lumea, Project Managers, Schedule & Risk teams, Project Controllers and external contractors to ensure sound contract management of all Transgrid's project delivery contracts.
The Senior Contract Manager will assist the Senior Manager / Commercial by working with the team to drive outcomes, lead group initiatives, represent the Senior Commercial Manager at meetings and be the senior expert in the contract management and administration of Transgrid construction contracts.
As Senior Contract Manager you will:
- Ensure all assigned contracts are managed in accordance with contract terms & conditions and relevant business rules.
- Manage contractor variations and extensions of time by getting information from Project team, Site Managers and Project Controller to enable a timely response.
- Track variations against contract funding and contingency and feed this information to the Project Controller and Project team.
- Prepare Contract Award and Contract Amendment papers and upload in iBUY for review and approval.
- Assist the project team in identifying suitable contractors to complete work.
- Facilitate the Project Delivery side of the tendering process and tender evaluation process.
- Work effectively across business units to achieve business outcomes.
- Inspire confidence and urgency within the group and across the Business Unit for the delivery of timely, high-quality service to internal and external customers.
- Drive a focussed commercial perspective, including an outward focus, awareness of delivery cycle times, and professional completion of work products.
- Lead, manage, mentor and develop a small team of Contract Administrators.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline
- Extensive experience in managing construction contracts including dispute management.
- Extensive experience in tendering, evaluating tenders etc.
- High level of understanding of standard contract terms and principles.
- Is able to develop good working relationships internal and external (contractors).
- Proven strong commercial background.
- Highly proficient in the use of business systems.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Exceptional MS Office skills.
- Proven capacity to work autonomously to a high standard.
- Experience in leading teams is highly desirable.
