The Corporate Strategy Branch is a small team, delivering strategic advice and high-quality services and support to the PBO across the corporate spectrum. This includes areas such as finance, human resources, governance, risk, audit, information management and security. The Branch also includes the Engagement and Communications section which is responsible for stakeholder engagement activities, managing the PBO’s website, learning and development and communications. The PBO’s payroll and financial transaction services are outsourced to the Department of the Senate. ICT and physical security services are provided by the Department of Parliamentary Services.
About the rolesCorporate Support Officers are responsible for daily administration in their lead stream and will provide support across the other streams as needed. Typical duties in these streams are shown below (not exhaustive lists). They will also be involved in policy development and implementation, contribute to agency wide projects, stakeholder engagement and larger corporate activities such as delivery of the Election commitments report and Annual Report.

Human Resources
- Coordinating recruitment processes for the PBO
- Managing onboarding and offboarding of staff including arranging security clearances and ICT activations
- Manage the daily traffic of the HR email inbox
- Maintain HR records and upkeep of various employee registers
- Liaise with external payroll provider, Senate HR, on routine and ad-hoc tasks
- Fulfill lead administration role for the agency’s performance management cycle
Governance and Performance
- Provide Secretariat support to the Audit and Risk Committee
- Manage the PBO’s compliance calendar
- Manage the Corporate email inbox
- Provide input to the development, upkeep and implementation of new and existing PBO policies
- Provide administrative support to the team in regard to the development of key corporate publications including the Corporate Plan and Annual Report.
Finance
- Support processing of PBO’s invoices for payment
- Maintain fortnightly payroll reports
- Provide data and input to various annual reports and documents, including administrative support for the PBO’s Portfolio Budget Statements.
