Corporate Support Officers take the lead in one of three streams in the Branch:
- Human Resources
- Governance and Performance
- Finance

The key duties of the position include:When applying for a Corporate Support Officer role, you will indicate your preferred stream on the cover sheet.
Human Resources
- Coordinating recruitment processes for the PBO
- Managing onboarding and offboarding of staff including arranging security clearances and ICT activations
- Manage the daily traffic of the HR email inbox
- Maintain HR records and upkeep of various employee registers
- Liaise with external payroll provider, Senate HR, on routine and ad-hoc tasks
- Fulfill lead administration role for the agency’s performance management cycle
Governance and Performance
- Provide Secretariat support to the Audit and Risk Committee
- Manage the PBO’s compliance calendar
- Manage the Corporate email inbox
- Provide input to the development, upkeep and implementation of new and existing PBO policies
- Provide administrative support to the team in regard to the development of key corporate publications including the Corporate Plan and Annual Report.
Finance
- Support processing of PBO’s invoices for payment
- Maintain fortnightly payroll reports
- Provide data and input to various annual reports and documents, including administrative support for the PBO’s Portfolio Budget Statements.
The successful candidate will have experience in supporting the delivery of a wide range of human resource and organisation development responsibilities, or have a background in corporate governance or finance management, preferably in a public sector environment.
The ability to build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and outsourced service providers in other Departments is critical to the success of this role.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or on the job experience are highly desirable. The successful applicant may be subject to other conditions, such as probation, character, or health clearances.
The Corporate Strategy Branch
The Corporate Strategy Branch is a small team, delivering strategic advice and high-quality services and support to the PBO across the corporate spectrum. This includes areas such as finance, human resources, governance, risk, audit, information management and security.
The Branch also includes the Engagement and Communications section which is responsible for stakeholder engagement activities, managing the PBO’s website, learning and development and communications.
The PBO’s payroll and financial transaction services are outsourced to the Department of the Senate. ICT and physical security services are provided by the Department of Parliamentary Services.

The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) supports the Parliament by providing independent and non-partisan analysis of the budget cycle, fiscal policy and the financial implications of proposals.We do this in 3 main ways:- responding to requests made by senators and members for costings of policy proposals or for analysis of matters relating to the Australian Government’s budget- publishing a report after every election that provides transparency around the fiscal impact of the election commitments of major parties- conducting and publishing self-initiated work, including interactive tools, that enhance public understanding of budget and fiscal policy settings.
