Our Water Division is experiencing significant growth, presenting the opportunity for a Senior Dams Engineer based in our Melbourne office.
About the role:
Support project managers/group leaders by providing technical expertise to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the client and Stantec expectations. As a civil engineer, assist in the delivery of projects, in the specialised field of dam engineering.
A day in the life of a Senior Dams Engineer looks like:
Undertake a range of duties in carrying out designs and studies for Dams Engineering projects to provide high level technical service to internal and external clients
Undertake dam safety inspections, safety reviews and supervise construction of dam upgrades
Undertake risk assessments including quantitative and qualitative assessments, event trees, fault trees and consequence assessment for individual dams, in accordance with ANCOLD and relevant guidelines
Provide technical expertise in Dams Engineering to meet project needs and client expectations.
Ensure all technical outputs conform to the project scope, are safe and are of appropriate quality (confirmed by independent review).
Work with local, national or global teams as required to deliver appropriate outcomes for the client
Provide mentoring and informal guidance to junior level staff, assist in assigning tasks, providing coaching, and checking work.
Actively participate in Stantec Information sharing network including knowledge forums and other such initiatives that the Company may promote from time to time.
Support the development and expansion of the Company’s capability in the field of dam safety, including obtaining new clients and/or new work from existing clients.
Key resource in completing chargeable projects and acts as a key link between graduates and project technical leads/managers when required.
Promote our brand through client interaction.
Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal material as required.
Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Quality Procedures.
Minimise and control risk by commitment to the Stantec Quality, Health & Safety programmes and ensuring proactive use of our project management systems.
Conduct site surveys, field investigations and feasibility studies for proposed projects
Produce calculations, specifications and drawings to ensure that technical design will provide the appropriate solution
To be successful for this role you'll present:
Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering (Civil or Geotechnical) field along with CPEng (or ability to obtain).
Over 10-years mechanical/infrastructure engineering experience – design and construction.
Exceptional leadership abilities including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
Advanced knowledge of water and wastewater services and the delivery environment.
Highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills to resolve disputes that arise
Strong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
Solid report writing with the ability to tell a compelling story.
