The Transport Analytics directorate enables efficient and effective decision making by creating and embedding products that transform how data is managed and used. We lead department analytics capability and partner with customers to deliver analytics solutions and insights. The Data Science and Engineering team designs, builds and maintains data infrastructure platforms, including services to support descriptive through to prescriptive analytics.The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring successful development, implementation and testing is performed in order to design and develop strong architecture to support insights that inform business decisions across the department.In this dynamic role, you'll lead our talented team in delivering innovative data solutions that meet the ever-evolving needs of our business and customers. From managing complex projects to providing expert advice and collaborating with stakeholders, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact.The Senior Data Engineer leads and coordinates the research, data acquisition and cleansing, development, implementation and maintenance of information and reporting databases, data automation systems and performance metrics to support business decisions.About You
You're a positive and collaborative professional with a strong background in Data Engineering or related fields. You will demonstrate skills and experience in motivating teams and have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts.As the ideal candidate, you'll bring a wealth of experience in driving significant programs of work and implementing transformative solutions. Your ability to navigate complex technical landscapes and deliver customer-focused services will be invaluable. Additionally, your deep understanding of Data Engineering coupled with your expertise in cloud data platforms and automated ingestion pipelines will drive efficiency and innovation within our organisation and provide a strong base for the provision of expert advice.The successful candidate will demonstrate technical capabilities in Data Engineering with a specific focus creating supportive analytics environments in cloud technologies (e.g. AWS/Azure). They will demonstrate the ability to code effectively and efficiently in languages appropriate to Data Engineering (eg: SQL/Python); advanced analytics and programming skills and strong technical skills in high volume data and data warehousing.Joining our newly established team is an opportunity to be part of something transformative. Tertiary qualification or equivalent relevant experience in Data Engineering, Information Technology, computer science, data science, software engineering.Certification in cloud analytics environments is desirable.Special Conditions
